Assisted levator scapulae stretch seated (contract-relax)

STRETCH

Preparation:

Position yourself and your partner and as pictured.

 

How to Do:

  1. Flex to the side and rotate the head AWAY from the side to be stretched until the first resistance barrier is felt, hold for 20-30 seconds.
  2. Next, partner should gently instruct you to make a contraction as if returning to neutral.
  3. Hold at first resistance barrier for 20 to 30 seconds, and then statically contract for 5 to 7 seconds.
  4. Relax and move into newly acquired range of motion.
  5. Repeat for 2 to 3 rep.
