How to Do Backpedaling Drills

The backpedaling drills should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.

If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the backpedaling drills.

Beginning

1. Begin in a runner's stance, with your knees and elbows bent.

2. Position yourself on your toes, and run backwards.

3. Reach back with your legs and land on the toes, using your arms to help propel the body.
