Movement

Assisted Levator Scapulae Stretch Seated Movement

1. Sit up straight in your chair, shoulders back and down.

2. To stabilize your shoulder blade, place the hand on the side you're stretching behind the shoulder. If you are unable to do so, simply perform the exercise with one hand behind your shoulder.

3. Turn your head to one side at a 45-degree angle and lower your head as if you're staring at your knee on that side. When you glance behind the neck and shoulder on the opposite side, you will feel a stretch. (The Levator Scapular is the name of this muscle).

4. Place your palm on the back of your head and apply slight pressure to increase the stretch.

5. Hold for the designated amount of time, then switch sides.
