How to Do Assisted Seated Chest Stretch Contract-relax
Gently pull your elbows back until the first resistance barrier is felt.
Beginning
Beginning Assisted Seated Chest Stretch
1. Sit on a bench or chair.
2. Be certain the core is engaged.
3. Place your hands as pictured, maintaining a neutral spine.
4. Partner should place their hands on your elbows as pictured.
Movement
Assisted Seated Chest Stretch Movement
1. Perform a small contraction of the chest muscles essentially pushing the elbows forward.
2. Hold at the first resistance barrier for 20 to 30 seconds.
3. Statically contract for 5 to 7 seconds and then relax and move into the newly acquired range of motion.
4. Repeat for 2 to 3 reps.
