Basketball, Light Game Play

CARDIO

How to Do

The light basketball game play should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.

If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the light basketball game play.

Beginning

1. Every time you shoot, line up with the basket.

2. On your dominant hand, balance the ball.

3. Allow the ball to roll away from your hand.

4. Jump straight up, pushing off with your feet.

5. Your goal should be to get the ball just over the rim and into the basket.

Movement

Dribbling is a ball-handling action in which the ball is repeatedly bounced off the floor. Dribbling is the only means to move the ball across the court while keeping the ball in the same player's hands. A traveling foul is committed when a player moves with the ball without dribbling.

ACSM Recommendations

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American College of Sports Medicine advocates that you take part in a combined 30 minutes of moderate to intense aerobic or anaerobic activity most days out of the week.

What does that mean for you?

Based on the intensity and your typical hour-long strength training and cardio program, that usually works out at three to five sessions each week.
