Basketball, Moderate, Game Play

CARDIO

How to Do

The moderate basketball game play should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.

If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the moderate basketball game play.

Beginning

1. Shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground is the goal of two teams of five players each.

2. The game is played on a court, which is a rectangular surface with a hoop at each end. The mid-court line divides the court into two primary halves.

Movement

1. The ball must be bounced, or dribbled, with one hand while both feet are moving. If both hands touch the ball at the same moment or the player stops dribbling, the player can only move one foot.

2. Dribbling is limited to one turn per basketball player.

3. The ball must remain within the boundaries of the field.

ACSM Recommendations

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American College of Sports Medicine advocates that you take part in a combined 30 minutes of moderate to intense aerobic or anaerobic activity most days out of the week.

What does that mean for you?

Based on the intensity and your typical hour-long strength training and cardio program, that usually works out at three to five sessions each week.
