How to Do
Stretching the Posterior Shoulder Capsule, Rear Delt Raise
This flexibility exercise is good for those who have tightness and restricted movement in the shoulders, but no injuries or pain.
Keep the abdomen drawn in and the back straight. Do not force the stretch. If at any time pain or serious discomfort is experienced, immediately stop stretching.
Beginning
Beginning Stretching the Posterior Shoulder Capsule
Stand tall with both feet shoulder-width apart. Roll the shoulders back and press them downward. Keep the chest high. Suck in the abdomen, drawing the navel towards the spine.
Movement
Posterior Shoulder Capsule Stretches Movement
1. Lift the left arm to shoulder height and swing it across the body palm facing inward.
2. Keeping the right arm pressed against the right side of the ribcage, bend the right arm up, cradling the left arm. The right palm should also face the body.
3. Apply light pressure to the left arm until you feel a stretch in the shoulder. Hold this position for one minute. Release the arms and repeat on the opposite arm.
