How to Do Push Up on the Smith Machine, Assisted
The Smith machine push-up should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.
If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the Smith machine push-up assisted.
Beginning
Beginning Push Up on the Smith Machine
Begin by standing so that you are facing the machine.
Set the bar in the middle of the weight stack.
The barbell will not move during this exercise.
Movement
Push Up on the Smith Machine Movement
1. Place your hands at shoulder length distance on the long bar.
2. Bring your chest down to the bar.
3. Your chest should be just above the bar.
4. Push upward into a push up so that you return to your starting position.
5. Repeat this movement until you have fully completed your set.
