How to Do

How to Do Lateral Raise on the TRX

The fly exercise should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.

If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the fly exercise.

Beginning

Beginning Lateral Raise on the TRX

1. Hanging from handles with arms straight and palms angled inward, position body and legs at desired angle.

2. Raise arms in a Y form upward and outward while maintaining them straight. Return to the starting posture and lower your body in the other direction until your arms are straight in front in the initial position. Repeat.

Movement

Lateral Raise on the TRX Movement

1. Adjust the TRX system so that it's at its longest, then face the equipment, and grasp the handles with your hands at 45 degrees to the ground.

2. Lean back and walk your feet inward slightly. The further inward you walk your feet, the harder the exercise will be.

3. Place your feet together, with your weight pushed back onto your heels. Your heels, knees, hips, shoulders, and head are in a straight line. Your arms should be fully extended in front of you at shoulder height.

4. Tighten your abdominal muscles to keep your alignment, then raise your arms up into a Y. Your palms should be facing forward, and your arms fully extended.

5. Make sure that you don't jerk your hips forward to perform the exercise. If you find yourself doing this, slide your feet backwards a little. This will reduce the difficulty of the exercise.

6. Allow your arms to come forward to the start position with slow control before repeating the exercise for the required number of repetitions.
